Interviewer: If someone were to get charged with an OVI or another traffic violation when does the BMV come into play?
Dale Naticchia: The BMV’s always into play when there is anything to do with traffic. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is under the Ohio Department of Public Safety, which is the executive branch. They are the branch of government that issue driving privileges and that’s what they call the license, but they say it’s a privilege.
Anytime there are any charges arising from any traffic incident the Bureau of Motor Vehicles is involved.
