Interviewer: Are there any warning signs of common tactics that indicate an unsuitable attorney is coercing a client into retaining them?
Dale: Commonly, an attorney may propose a low figure to retain the case. But they refuse to proceed unless you have paid the balance in full.
Interviewer: Does that mean that an attorney that’s not willing to spend the time and become informed about your case before you hire them is not worth talking to?
Dale: It might seem impractical to invest time in a case before you’ve been retained. But I feel that this time is valuable preparation. If a client does retain me, which most of the time they do, I have a very good foundation to work from.
