Penalties for DUI vs. Super DUI

Interviewer: So what are some of the penalties for regular DUIs versus the super DUIs?

Dale: It does depend on the court. From some courts you can expect three days in jail. That could be the sentence for a low end, first time offense. In addition, your license will be suspended between six months to three years. But some courts require that you undergo a pre-sentencing investigation. As I mentioned earlier, you are required to visit the probation department before sentencing. They might require a urinalysis as well as a drug and alcohol assessment.

The department may recommend a course of treatment. In that case, part of your sentence will be to undergo intensive outpatient treatment. This can be very expensive and it prolongs the process by six or seven months.
