Some Relief for Ohioans Charged With Driving Under Suspension
House Bill 37 will go into effect on September 28, 2012. The bill offers some relief to those who have been charged with driving under suspension. Some of these provisions are as follows:
- Child Support Suspensions- Under the current law courts could not grant driving privileges to those whose license suspended for nonpayment of child support. H.B. 37 gives the court authority to issue driving privileges.
- Financial Responsibility Suspensions- Under the current law, anyone who had 3 financial responsibility suspensions within a five year period had their license suspended for 2 years with no privileges. The new law will allow the courts to grant privileges to these offenders.
